Doclisboa is the only festival in Portugal dedicated exclusively to documentaries. With an impressive array of 186 movies from all over the world, the festival will have a total duration of 10 days, between the 18th and the 28th of October.
This year’s edition will feature many activities parallel to the documentary showcase, including Masterclasses, Debates, and Workshops. Documentary competition is also a part of the show, and the Portuguese side of the competition will count on 9 feature films and 8 short films of the total 186.
In a year marked by deep social and economic issues, the festival launches a new section, called “Cinema de Urgência” (Cinema of Urgency), that will feature small movies that were based on recent political and social events that left a mark in the world.
Besides this, there are also two new sections taking place: “Verdes Anos” (The Green Years) and “Passagens” (Passages). The first will showcase movies produced in cinema schools, and the latter is dedicated to projects that unite documentary making to contemporary art.
Doclisboa, now on its 10th edition, will take place on many different spots throughout the city of Lisbon, from actual cinemas (Cinema Londres and Cinema São Jorge), to even discos like Lux Frágil.
